Question: Tell me about filing the music video for “The Hell You Are”
Ashley Cooke: It was so much fun. The music video that we shot for Hell You Are was an absolute blast. I had two of my actual real-life friends be in it. So, Emily and Hailey, we had the best time. My whole idea for the video was to kind of smash all of this guy’s stuff, ruin all of his stuff. He was supposed to come to a dinner that I made for him and then he bailed on the phone and I asked my friends to come over and we ended up just kind of ruining this dinner. There was spaghetti all over the floor. This Airbnb that we were at, we were like, is this gonna be a problem? Because we were smashing guitars, we broke a chair, broke a table. Made this whole kind of wreck-it scene in the video and it just felt so much fun. Honestly, having my real friends there, too, to wreck a bunch of stuff, I smashed a guitar. Completely smashed the guitar. It was completely destroyed and the aftermath was quite funny to see. You know, cut up jerseys and tickets and posters and smashed guitars and Xbox controllers all laid out with spaghetti on a broken table. I was like, oh wow, we really just fell into the female rage here for a second.”
