Question: Did the demo of baby blues change from what was released?
Ashley Cooke: “I feel like Baby Blue sounds different than the demo for sure. The demo of Baby Blue’s was very, um, and again, we were all hung over on that retreat when we wrote it. So it sounds way more calm and like, um laid back and like almost like acoustic chill calm. And I feel Dan Huff, who produced the final record of Baby Blues, he was like, I feel the song is so fun and swinging, it should have some grit to it, give it some teeth. And so. He made it sound a little more like Yacht Rocky, which I love. It’s my favorite kind of music. So I think that the demo definitely sounds different. It took some getting used to on my end because at first I was like, I don’t know. Do I love the OG kind of breezy feeling of it? But then I really do love what he did with it. Now I’ve grown to love that more than the demo,”
