Question: Tell me about this new song release with Ben Rector.. Hailey Whitters: “I just released a song with Ben Rector. It’s called Color Up my world, and, I just got sent that song by actually a co-writer on the song, my friend Brett Tyler, and he said that they’d written it, and, Ben was looking for a feature. And Ben, he kind of says, like, every night on tour, that he found out we were all touring together, and he was like, oh, shoot. Like, I want, I want to do a song with Haley. So I guess he wrote that kind of with me in mind, and I think he just totally hit the nail on the head. It’s such a fun song. I have a blast singing it with him every night and it just feels good.”
Question: Tell me about writing on the bus with “Things I Take For Granted” & “Man Made A Bar” Larry Fleet: “Yeah, so sometimes whenever I go out on the road, I’ll bring another bus, and I just have a couple of buddies, you know, 2 or 3 guys, and, well, they’ll be out there and whenever, you know, during the mornings, we’ll get up. And I got my little routine to do and we’ll work out and do different things. And then I’ll go on the bus and we sit down and we try to write songs and, so. This one weekend we were out. I had it was me and Jordan, Darcy, Brett Tyler and Rocky Block. And, first time I’d written with with Jordan or Rocky. And so we’re, you know, kind of meeting each other and sit down and, and, I think it was the first day we were out, we wrote “Man Made a Bar” and “Things I Take For Granted” in the same day. And so that was, and at the time, you don’t really know what what you’ve done, you know, it’s like, yeah, we’ve wrote two good songs, but on to the next one. You know, we just kind of you’re always just trying to write as many songs as you can and see what you come up with. And we just got really lucky and wrote both them songs in the same day. And that weekend I think we wrote 6 or 7 songs. So, and I, I may have cut a couple more and, I think there’s a couple other guys looking at. So, so that was a really good weekend. And, I would like to, you know, reproduce that one day, but I don’t know if you ever will or not.”
Question: How’s the home? HARDY: “We’ve had some. Yeah, it’s been almost two years. We’ve had some good, we’ve had some homeowner issues. We we’ve just had a pipe bust when it got cold, flooded our closet. So we had all of our floors ripped up. We had to take everything that we were going to need for like X amount of weeks out of the closet. So we’ve had clothes all over it, just laying all over the house. What new water heater? We’ve had some stuff go on for sure. And, it’s just a work in progress, but it’s good.”
Question: How’s the headlining tour going? Larry Fleet: “It’s going pretty good, we got I don’t know how many I can remember how many dates it is, but every one of them is I mean, people showing up and singing all the words, and it’s just really cool. It’s been cool to watch it grow.”
Question: How’s the Dan + Shay Tour? Hailey Whitters: “Being on the Dan and Shay tour has been so fun. They are like the most humble dudes ever. They’re so sweet, so nice. But it’s been really great. I feel like it’s like the most pop country tour I’ve done or done in a while, and the fans have just been super fun and awesome. And, I get to go sing with Ben Rector every night, so that’s very fun. We sing a song that we just put out called “Color Up my World”. Yeah, it’s been good.
