Question: How did you pick “I’m In Love” on the EP?
Hailey Whitters: “I did not write “I’m in Love”. Nicole Galligan, Cameron Bedell, and Lee Miller wrote I’m in love. And, I was in Nashville at my record label, Big Loud, and we were having a pitch meeting. We were starting to find songs for the next record, and so a bunch of publishers were coming in and playing us songs. You know, it’s kind of like shopping. You get to like, just sit there and pick out what you like and pick out, you know, what you want to sing about. And, Nicole was in the room with me, obviously, because she’s part of my label. And, I remember, Cameron Bechdel’s publisher had come in the room, and he was just kind of sidebar with Nicole small talking, you know, hey, I love that song that you and Cameron and Lee wrote the other day. And Nicole was like, oh, thanks. And I was like, wait, what song did you write yesterday? Like, let’s hear it. And, they just played it… They played the work tape. And on the spot, me and my producer Jake Gear, we were like, we ought to record that. So it just felt so my language. So something I would say, and I just, I loved pun intended. I loved the song from first Listen.”
