Question: What do you hope fans take away from “Better That Way”?
Charles Wesley Godwin: “I hope folks really enjoy the second verse is my favorite part of the song when it’s talking about calling my mom because I still can, walking this earth with my head held tall. Those are a couple lines that really connect with me. I hope that puts things in perspective in the moment for fans if you’re listening in your car on your way to work or on your home or on you run or just chilling on the back porch. Just I hope it it brings them back to where their feet are and being happy for the things that they do have in life and being content in the moment. That’s what I hope the song does is that I hope it brings people back to enjoying the moment and just can reinforce that with them as they listen to it.”

Question: Who would you want to be in your golf foursome?
Charles Wesley Godwin: “Yeah, I mean, I golfed with Chase Rice up in Canada last year. We had a great time. We loved golf with Ernest. Just had such a good time with him when we were writing the song. And then, man, think of another one. Maybe somebody I had not been around and haven’t played golf with yet. I mean I’d love to play if Willie was still out there. I know Willie played most of his adult life. I don’t know if he still gets out there today, but it’d be really fun to play with Willie Nelson, too. So, yeah, Chase Rice, Ernest, and Willie Nelson would be my picks.”

Charles Wesley Godwin: The names all come from the Bible, but yeah, Gabriel, Abigail, and Elijah.And yeah, they’re great kids, beautiful kids.

Question: What are some foods you always have on the road with you?
Charles Wesley Godwin: “Well, go to any time there’s like an off night. I love steak steak houses. So I like going to a nice steak house and having the band and crew all out and us having a nice meal together. So I really enjoy that. And then something that’s a must on the rider is is we’ve been doing these turmeric ginger like immunity shots and you know, they’re like filled with like cayenne pepper and things like that, too. But, you know at this stage in life, I think it’s keeping us all pretty pepped up and we cheers that like it’s an actual like shot of something. So we’ve been doing those immunity shots the last couple of years. So that’s something that’s on the rider that we enjoy every single day, every time.”

Question: How excited are you to be on country radio?
Charles Wesley Godwin: That’s been a great experience. First time getting to do the radio thing and having folks start coming out to shows everywhere we’ve been. It’s just been a cool experience and something I’m really glad I at least get to do once. So I know what it’s like. It’s been lot of fun.
