Question: It’s got to be easier to remember new lyrics with voice memos right?
Charles Wesley Godwin: “I know, right? Yeah, back in the day, you just need to get up or pull over and just get it done, because if you had no way to do that, we’re fortunate to have the voice memos now. I have made the mistake of thinking I would remember one in the past, and I’ve lost a handful of really, really good songs over the years.”

Question: What do you usually crave after a marathon?
Charles Wesley Godwin: Oh man, I was craving pizza after the marathon. I think I had a beer too while they were handing out beers right after the finish line. So my whole lower body had cramped up. This probably wasn’t the best thing for me at that time, but man, it felt good to sit down and have a beer. So I think that’s what I did the first thing. [00:00:00][0.0]

Question: What was last thing bought on Amazon?
Charles Wesley Godwin: “Last thing I bought on Amazon were tree rings, those like rubber landscape fabric, like mats that you put around a tree trunk to keep the weeds from growing up and choking them. I planted a bunch of Eastern white pines to plant a pine grove in the back of my property and put those around the trees to block the weeds, from choking them out”

Question: Do the Kiddos understand what you do?
Charles Wesley Godwin: Yeah, my son and my older son and daughter both have a pretty good idea of what I do now. They’ve been to some shows, they’ve been up on stage with me at the end of them, so they get it. I think that it’s funny from their perspective, it’s just like, oh yeah, this is just what dad does. It’s just completely the same as any other job and that’s pretty cool. And I’m actually like, I’m glad they like my music, which, you know, I. It could be very easy for a toddler to not like my music, in my opinion, but they actually really enjoy it, so that’s a cool thing.

Question: How did you meet your wife?
Charles Wesley Godwin: “My wife and I met when we were both at WVU. She was in grad school, I was an undergrad, and I was singing bluegrass music. It was a Wednesday night at a place called Schmidt’s Saloon in Morgantown, West Virginia, and she’d been drug out by her friend. She didn’t feel like going out that night, but her friend insisted on her coming out, and that’s where we met. We met after the show. And then I proceeded to ask her out for a couple months until she finally gave in and would go on a date with me.”
