Question: Where did you write “Six Feet Under”?
HARDY: “I was actually at my house when I wrote it upstairs in my studio, and Caleigh was downstairs, and so I had to be like, super, super quiet. And I told her that I was in a meeting and to not bother me for a few hours, and I was scared to death that she was going to poke her head in the door and hear what I was doing. But she never did and it worked out.”

Question: What is your favorite summer activity?
HARDY: “My favorite summer activity is definitely fishing. But a close second is. I like to look for arrowheads, and you just kind of walk around on the river, and you look for them, and you find them. and you can somewhat do them hand in hand. If you want to take a break from fishing, you can go look for arrowheads or vice versa. So it’s good to just go out and have a day on the river and do both.”

Question: How did you share the song with Caleigh?
HARDY: “When I played it for Caleigh, it was when my producer sent me the link to the entire record. And then when that song came up in the in the cue, my heart was beating like so fast. And we were actually driving around and I told her I was like, okay, I have a surprise, and I’ve waited a really long time for this, but I wrote you like officially a song and it’s called Caleigh Song, and this is your song. And when the when the part hit at the end, we had to pull over and I’m never I’ve never seen her cry that hard in my life. And that was like the most fulfilling reaction I’ve ever. Gotten. It was so special and it was so cool and meant so much to her. And that means so much to me. And I just, I love it.”

HARDY – Last Song on Album

Question: Why is “Six Feet Under” last song on the album?
HARDY: “Six Feet Under is the last song on the album, because it’s a little different than the rest of the album, and I historically have done that, like with one beer on hixtape, with the redneck Song On the Mockingbird and The Crow with a Rock on a Rock, and it’s just the song that maybe has a little bit left of center or something that you maybe least expect. And to me, it just puts a nice little bow on the end of the album, a nice little emotional stamp, or a moment at the end of the album. For people maybe to to be like, damn, that was a good album. At least that’s what I hope. But yeah, there are some strategy to making that song. The last the last song on the album, it was that it was the the theatrics of it all.”

Question: Tell me about writing “Six Feet Under (Caleigh’s Song)”
HARDY: “Writing six feet under alone was actually more emotional than I thought. And, the fun part is, I actually kept it a secret from my wife until the final record was actually done. So I got to play it for her in its final form, and it was a really cool moment.”
