Question: What snacks are on the bus?
Larry Fleet: “We have a few things, but there is a chip drawer. So at any point in time you could find Cheetos or Cool Ranch Doritos. But my favorite is, hot and spicy or Tabasco. I don’t know if they do the Tabasco anymore. They just come hot and spicy Cheez-Its. Kind of a favorite of mine. I’ve been doing that for years. And I’m a dr Pepper Zero. Yeah. So he used to drink Coke, zeros and Diet Cokes. And I’ve always loved doctor Pepper. It was always my favorite. And then all of a sudden, one day they come out and we get doctor Pepper Zero. I said, let me try this. And it tastes just like the real thing. It’s the best thing ever. So at any point in time, you walk on as best you find hot and spicy Cheez-Its and doctor Pepper zero. It’s pretty wild. And we party, you know.”

Question: Do you and the band have any pre-show rituals?
Larry Fleet: “Half the band don’t drink anymore. And so you always see people doing shots, you know, before shows. So we still do that. But we do Red bull because we just, you know, trying to get some energy up. And so it’s like, all right, let’s do our shots. So we always do shots of Red bull just to get us fired up. And then usually I’m trying to give him a little pep talk you know. Which is mostly I’m not good at that. So I just try to joke around and then we we get a good laugh, we do a shot of Red bull, and we hit the stage. And that’s pretty much what we do. I mean, people stretch, they do their whole thing. I do that too, just so we can move around and you get kind of stove up just sitting on these busses all day. And so it’s a it’s a nice time to kind of like stretch and get warmed up. I mean it’s like going in for us… It’s like game time, you know. So I just want to be limber, flexible and and hopped up on energy drinks.”

Question: Y’all officially moved to Nashville right?
Larry Fleet: “Yeah, we moved to Nashville, almost a year ago now. I bought some land and I bought a little old house that it was on this land, and I drew plans that were trying to redo it because it was. What some might call a tiny house, which was not going to be big enough for us. And so we drew up any plans. We were going to, you know, build this, this cool thing, and then the codes and all the stuff in our little town there didn’t work out. And so, I was fortunate enough that I was able to sell the little house back to the guy that sold it to me, which is good at the time. And then I was like, well, what are we going to do now? So we searched around for a house and my brother does some real estate on the side, and he said, hey I know a house they might want to sell. It’s not on the market. I said, let’s go look at it. So we went over and, talked to these people and they said, well, we’d be up for selling it. And, I looked at it and it was the exact house that we were that we drew up. And I said, what are the odds? And it was sitting on a little bit of land and. So I bought it, and, we love it. It’s our house, and it feels like home. And so we got my neighbor. He’s a he’s a songwriter, and, Cody Johnson’s producer, which is kind of cool. So we got multiple songwriters and stuff on the street, so it’s kind of a cool place to live.”

Question: Do the kids have their own bunk?
Larry Fleet: “Yeah, well. And he has his own boat and he wants to sleep on the top, but we make him sleep on the bottom, because if he falls out, it won’t hurt his bad. And there’s a good chance he will fall out of it. So he falls off of everything. But, so he’s on the bottom, and then Stella see she got her own bunk, but she wants to sleep with mama. And so, usually instead of me, getting to sleep in my own bed in the back, I usually have to pick a bunk out, which is right next to Waylon. And then me and him sit and talk when he’s supposed to go to sleep. He wants to talk about everything. So we lay there and look at each other and sit and talk all night, and then finally have to fight him to go to sleep, you know.”

Question: How are the kids?
Larry Fleet: “Well, my kids are good. They got Stella. She’s, about to be three and Whalen will be five in August and they’re awesome. They’ve been we’ve been fortunate enough that, you know, as this thing has grown, we we now have our own bus. And so, for years, you know, I had to leave them and stay going all the time. And it was tough, you know, for when they’re real little, they don’t really understand. And they just looking, you know, to hang out and and eat food, you know. And so mama would always take care of them, you know. And then now when I leave, it’s harder and they want to know where I’m going and what I’m doing, and they love being a part of it. And so, like I said, we’ve been fortunate enough that now I got, you know, two busses going on the road and one of them is me and my family. And so I get to spend a lot more time with them. And, and they get to see what, what their daddy does. And they have fun. They love everybody in the band. And Waylon comes out on the stage a lot and does his thing is he’s a superstar. And, Stella usually sleeps during my show. So, you know, it’s something for everybody, I guess. But they’re doing good, and and there are a lot of fun and fun ages right now, so.”
