Question: How do you get the perfect ponytail?
Hailey Whitters: “I use a lot of weave for the perfect ponytail. But honestly, the secret is like my hairstylist, Britney. She always has these little ponytail holders that have like hooks on the end. They like, clasp with each other. And I always think that’s like the secret ingredient. Somehow it is better than just a regular old ponytail. I don’t even know what you call them. It’s just a ponytail with hooks.”

Question: Does Jake come on the road with you?
Hailey Whitters: “Jake comes on the road with me every once in a while. You know, he we have two dogs and so he doesn’t get to come out with me every weekend. But I think he comes at least like once a month. He’ll come out on the road, we’ll board the dogs and he’ll come out. The dogs are so good, I miss them. I’m I have a little Aussie shepherd named Raleigh Bear who is just like, I’m so codependent with my dog. Like, I love her, she loves me. She just turns any day around, any bad day around. And then I have a blue tag beagle named Beau, and I love him as well. He doesn’t love me as much, though. He’s a little more moody. Likes to just sit in the sun on the porch and be lazy.”

Question: How’s the road life going?
Hailey Whitters: “Traveling on the road. Road? Life is good. You know, we’re in a routine right now. We are out so much. We’re out all the time. And, you know, it’s like an adjustment. I don’t have much spare time these days, but it’s all really good because we’re getting to do a lot of really cool shows. We were out with Shania Dirks, Bentley, Eric Church, Luke Bryan, just getting to perform with so many people that have inspired me. And it’s been a really good year on the road.”

Question: Any cool appearances you’ve gotten to do?
Hailey Whitters: “Well, I never thought I would hear Kelly Clarkson singing my song, but that definitely happened. We got to be on the Kelly Clarkson show. We got to do Kimmel. That was super cool. My first late night, we got to be on the Today Show. Waking up early in New York City and we got to sing Everything’s Sheh Ain’t On on the TV.”

Question: What was it like working with your husband as the producer?
Hailey Whitters: “Yeah. I this is the third record that I did with my producer slash husband, Jake Gear. It’s always amazing. I mean, like, you know, we’re kind of in a groove now. I remember, like, the first time we were producing a project together, there was some country music squabbling happening, you know, some spats and all that. But like, we’re in a really good groove right now. And I think the good thing about working together is we really trust each other and we really respect each other’s opinions. And so I ultimately think it’s just great for the project because it’s like there’s no holding back, like we’re not afraid to hurt each other’s feelings. And so I think that’s good because in ways it lets the truth get out there. And then we also ain’t afraid to work to find the solution. So I think it’s a really good partnership.”
